Speed Net Ver. 3.1.2 (Release version) on 29/01/2011

Speed Net Team, Centre For Excellence In Postal Technology, PTC, Mysore is releasing Speed Net Ver 3.1.2 Release Version on 29/01/2011.



The same is uploaded into the PTC’s FTP site. The Release has the following contents:-

•       Speed Net 3.1.2 Client Setup
•       Database Upgrades Folder containing POSPCC and POSPCCBackup Scripts to be executed in Database Workshop For Sites Module.
•       Database Workshop For Sites ( Latest) Module to do the DB Upgradation. 
•       DB Exl Scripts folder contains POSPCC>Exl and POSPCCBackup.Exl files which should   be run in the Script Tool.exe. 
•      Script Tool.Exe 
•      Speed Net ver 3.1.2 ( Release Version) ReadMe ( This File)
•      Release_Document_of_SpeedNet_3.1.2. ( To be provided to all Operating Offices)
•      SpeedNet Communication 3.1.2 
•      SpeedNet Server 3.1 ( There is no change in this version)
•     Collection Agent Booking Module with Read Me 

Note: 

·         In Offices where Speednet is upgraded from 3.1.1 Version or 3.1.2 Testing Versions or SpeedNet 3.1.2 RC

Speed Net Server module needn’t be reinstalled. It is  the same  as  installed through Speed Net 3.1 CD.

A copy of the same is given along with this release.

·         Speed Net Communication Module is 3.1.2 version.

Extra care should be taken to confirm that Communication 3.1.2  is used along with 3.1.2 Client


·         SpeedNet 3.1.2 Release Version Files should be used to upgrade 3.1.1 or 3.1.2 Test Version or SpeedNet 3.1.2 RC  to 3.1.2 Release Version.

No earlier versions are supported with the upgradation hence they have to reinstall Speednet 3.1.2.

If older Versions are upgraded and the problems are reported, we can’t provide any solution for such problems.

·         Due to revision in the  BNPL  Billing  procedure,  there  is BNPL MDB ( BNPL Database) upgradation process in addition to

Regular upgradation procedure which should be carefully done with extra care to see that no one uses Speednet during

upgradation. BNPL MDB Upgradation procedure is required for New Installation also.

·         International Tariff Revision is included in the current release for booking BNPL Foreign Articles.

·         Barcode Restriction: Circle  wise  Article  and  Bag  Barcode  series  prescribed  by the  Directorate is validated in this version.

Hence all BNPL Articles booked in this version  should comply to the prescribed Article Barcode Series and similar is the base of  the Bags closed in this module.  If any  office is  not having  the prescribed Article and Bag Barcodes, they can’t use this version until they obtain the prescribed barcodes.

         However, there is  no  restriction  currently  put on the  Articles received  through Bag Open or through Point of Sale and also no  restriction on Bag Receipts made in this  version  taking  into  account  the  offices  using the older version  and  the  same  will  be implemented at a later stage.

·         New Customer Agreement  should  have  been  obtained  from the  BNPL  Customers  on or before 31/01/2011 as instructed by

Directorate. From 01/02/2011, SpeedNet  will  not  allow t o  Book BNPL Articles for that customer whose Agreement data is not Entered into in the module.

·         As Speednet 3.1.2 Release Version has the inbuilt MNOP Features, Offices like, MBCs who are allowed to close direct Bags to

all destination offices as per requirements should give a request letter to Director, CEPT, PTC, Mysore for the provision of MNOP  revised script. The signed request should be sent in  manuscript  in the  prescribed  forma given at Annexure 1 of New Featured

Document released  along  with this  Module, to  allow  them to close direct bags. They also need to send the screen print of the My  Offices  details  option  in the  SpeedNet  Module which they are  currently  using. Only on  getting  the  revised script from ptcdesk@gmail.com, the office has to go to version 3.1.2.

 ·         Hand Held Devise  for  Postmen  are being  used in some offices on Testing Basis.  The revision of PostMen Remarks has to be Incorporated in the  Hand  Held  Devices through the concerned and hence current release of 3.1.2, will not support the returns through HHD.

 ·         The Collection Agent Module has been modified with security features in SpeedNet3.1.2 and the same is at the Testing Level.

Hence Offices Using Collection Agent Module have to use the Speednet at Offline mode to test the Collection Agent Booking and Billing and Support us  with  your  feed  backs in an effort to make it a Release Version soon. ( Please read the Collection Agent Read Me for details)
